A Poster for an Architect
I was asked to design a poster for an architect, based on the iconic work of three architects: Zaha Hadid, Santiago Calatrava, and Herzog & De Meuron. The mission was to 1) Use the most compelling images of the architect’s work as source material, and 2) Create abstract iconic images that a viewer wants to engage with as a piece of art.
Color Palettes were borrowed from Josef Albers’ best-known work “Homage to the Square”. His body of work focused on the interplay of form and color, highlighting the optical effects of geometric shapes set off by the selected color palettes. Inspired by Albers’ color treatments, the Poster for an Architect series employs the implication of the unique architectural form of each selected building, in an attempt to create stylistic and iconic images.
